Dropped the other half off at work at headed into Freo for food. Visited an old friend (Moore & Moore) for munchies and a hot drink.

Sat at a table on the other side of the room, in only what could be described as a collegiate threesome, the doctors from Notre Dame were working out the final script for their Powerpoint presentation. Buzz words and educational lingo sprung from their lips, like fleas from a shaking dog.

From what their loud conversation implied, I believe they were trying to convey the term of “informed consent” in the relationship between educational researchers and student respondents.

Very quickly, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was referenced. But not alone. Sharing the sentence, and their thought patterns, direct links were made between Fascism, Hitler and informed consent.

The thought being that research was conducted on students in Nazi Germany, and the lack of informed consent led to problems of abuse. That’s an understatement linking Nazi Germany and abuse as a “problem”.

Now, the interesting part focussed on the “The Ten Commandments” for implementing informed consent. The biblical approach. Less said about that one.

Further garbled lingo spewed as the rehearsal approached its conclusion. Would love to be a fly on the wall of that final presentation.

Headed to Cottesloe to see how the waves and beach life was doing. North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club was celebrating its 100 years of service to the beach community (click for external link – new tab). Below the Tea Rooms, an amarda of vessels and people very going through their paces in preparation for the sail and paddle past.

This armada was due to arrive at North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club around 10.45 ish. So witrh camera in hand, I headed off the quick kilometre up the coast. Found an outside table overlooking the ocean at the Blue Duck (click for external link – new tab), grabbed a tea, blueberry muffin and parked myself.
