South Point (Gracetown)
South Point turns on when big southwest swells wrap round the rocky outcrop at the southern end of Cowaramup Bay. It’s an awesome set up which breaks into a protected bay.
The wave surges off the take-off then walls up for hundreds of metres. Halfway along there is a section that throws a bit offering a chance at a cover up.
South Point is protected from the howling southwest wind, making it a good option in the summer months.
North Point (Gracetown)
Heading west along Cowaramup Bay Road, then turning the corner and down the hill once the Indian Ocean comes into view, you’ll find North Point, possibly the most heavy duty waves on the coast when the right conditions are in play (south west swell and easterly wind).
The Margaret River Pro is held here in conjunction with Surfers Point when the conditions are better than Main Break or Box and if the swell is over 2.5m pretty much everyone will be down here. A favourite for any visiting pro surfer so a great spot to sit watch and enjoy the action.
